From official representatives of "Rostec" it became known that the rocket launcher system (MLRS) "Tornado-G" received a documentary basis for the possibility of entering the international weapons market.
“It is supposed that the system will attract foreign customers, replacing Grad systems used by more than 50 countries of the world in the future,” was announced during the speech.
Scientific and production association "Splav", which is part of "Tehmash", have already been granted permission to demonstrate the system in other countries.
Tornado-G is an improved multiple rocket launcher system using the Grad MLRS base. Compared with the previous version, the system has the following advantages: the striking power of the combat charge is much higher; a new guidance system is installed in combination with an additional navigation system.
Now the system is able to fully function offline. The head of the new charge weighs two times more than the obsolete copies, and the damaging properties are several times higher.
The MLRS "Tornado-G" uses ammunition of 122 millimeter caliber, which are designed to destroy and destroy the living forces of the opposing side, various military equipment, artillery and mortar units, as well as combat control points. The system can conduct both volley fire and attack with single missiles.
History of creation
The complex of works for the replacement of the Grad MLRS was started in the 1990s. And for the first time demonstration tests were conducted in 1998 near Orenburg. In 2011, orders were already issued for the production of 36 units of such equipment, but they were not implemented, because the system had not yet been put into service. A year later, all problems were eliminated thanks to the completion of state tests. 36 copies were delivered to the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation.
The system surpasses its predecessor many times, since the Grad MLRS is already outdated. The release of new products on the international market is expected in the near future. It is planned that the new system will adopt many countries.
