Sikorsky Helicopters discovered the secret of the FVL helicopter

The US company Sikorsky Helicopters, together with employees from the company Boeing, is working on the creation of a technological combat helicopter. A video has appeared on the Internet that tells in detail about both versions of the combat unit being created - military transport and attack helicopters. The second caused the greatest interest among the public.

The model is based on the Sikorsky X2 Demonstrator, it was she who set the record for the speed of cars of this class. The new model is called Sikorsky-Boeing Future Vertical Lift Concept.

The video reveals in detail the technology of the new creation of the airline Sikorsky. FVL is based on the concept of a high-speed helicopter of the future, which has resulted in coaxial rotors and a pusher propeller on the tail.

The aerodynamic system makes it possible to reduce the amount of air that is pushed down by the main screws. This balances the weight of the helicopter and facilitates its handling and maneuverability, providing high dynamic performance. This approach is necessary to maintain high speed compared to other machines. The stated maximum speed is 474 km / h. In the Mi-8, for example, it is 260 km / h.

The company has developed two variants of the combat unit of this model: military transport and shock. The first is to replace the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk in the US military. The second is the famous Apache attack helicopter.

Sikorsky-Boeing Future Vertical Lift Concept technology provides for the active use of the vibration control and suppression system, which makes the helicopter less noisy. Also built the ability to quickly refuel in the air.

The military transport version of the helicopter accommodates 12 people. Impact unit has a schematic arrangement of "tandem", that is, the places are located immediately after each other. The best and most sought-after transport will benefit from AIM-9X air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface guided missiles.

Expected release date

The target date for the appearance of the Sikorsky-Boeing Future Vertical Lift Concept at the disposal of the United States Armed Forces is set for the 2030s. But the army insists on the earlier appearance of the helicopter in action. Does this mean that Sikorsky Helicopters will not have time to develop all the advanced technology that was intended for FVL?

But it is precisely clear that the army will have a flexible, fast and agile helicopter in their ranks, which they have long been demanding.
