A merger of the largest European companies launched an anti-tank variant of the Estonian unmanned platform

One of the largest MBDA corporations recently shared with the press information about the agreements with the Estonian company Milrem Robotics, according to which they jointly embark on a new project of an unmanned robotic anti-tank system. It will be equipped with the MBDA IMPACT rocket module (MMP), using the THeMIS track platform as a base.

The anti-tank module MBDA IMPACT uses the thermal imaging principle of type IIR to obtain coordinates. Development will be focused on participation in combat operations within the city. The bmpd blog talks about equipping the module with a 7.62 machine gun.

For more than a year, the MMP missile system has been manufactured by the French division of MBDA for the needs of the local army. The range of destruction of the complex is 4 kilometers. But at the last Eurosatory 2018 exhibition, official representatives of the corporation stated that the latest development tests showed results up to 5 kilometers. A rocket can independently capture a target not only before but also after launch. The complex has already received orders from foreign military structures.

Platform Characteristics

The Estonian company Milrem Robotics has been engaged in the modernization and promotion of self-propelled unmanned aerial tracked platform (THeMIS) for various applications for more than two years. The platform weighs 1,450 kilograms, having a mass of transported load of up to 750 kilograms. Installed a hybrid engine that runs on diesel-electric principle. Without load, equipment on such a platform can reach speeds of up to 22 kilometers per hour. For movement, a lithium-ion battery can be used, which can extend the operating time of the vehicle by one and a half hours.

At the Eurosatory 2018 conference, Milrem Robotics showed the public several options for platforms: ARX20, FN herstal RWS, the base for moving the Tethered. Control is carried out with a variety of removal, there is an autopilot function to the specified point.
