Its appearance and tactical and technical characteristics for a long time were meticulously developed by the workers of TsNIITOCHMASH and the specialists of the High-precision Kinetics Prototyping Center.
A bullet fired from this pistol easily pierces a bulletproof vest of standard protection class.
In general, the caliber of the novelty is 9 mm (chambered for 9x21). Shop is designed for 14 rounds.
According to Vladimir Pirozhkov, head of the Kinetic Center, the technical characteristics of the pistol, after years of improvement, have reached their limits. Then it is a matter of improving reliability and optimizing ergonomics for ease of handling.
The main distinctive feature of the new pistol is the silencer. It is produced on a 3D printer from composite materials. As a result, it weighs several tens of grams, and its characteristics for silencing the sound of a shot and the flame arresting have significantly surpassed those possessed by the classic metal counterparts. It is noteworthy that even after 500 shots the silencer looks as good as new.
Developers even waved to make the whole gun out of composites. And oddly enough, the strength of the weapon did not suffer from this and was even higher than that of a metal counterpart. In this case, the weight was less, and the cost is lower.
However, Vladimir Pirozhkov is still confident that printing weapons on 3D printers is a matter of the foreseeable, but future.
Pistol tests are scheduled for December this year. One of its main competitors will be the "Lebedev Pistol" of the "Kalashnikov" concern.
By the way, the "PL-15" (this is the marking of the youngest of the "Kalashnikov" family) will not be offended.
It is a short-barreled weapon weighing about a kilogram, caliber 9 mm, oriented to the cartridge 9x19 "Parabellum".
Its distinctive features are increased ergonomics. Reduced recoil reduces the throw after a shot, which contributes to the rapid return to the line of aiming and accelerates the possibility of re-shot. The ergonomic handle, which has a large angle of inclination facilitates the shooting offhand. And an improved trigger mechanism makes it almost impossible for a spontaneous shot.
By the way, the advisers for its development were the FSB officers.
In any case, in 2019, law enforcement agencies, as well as special forces of the army, will receive a new pistol for armament.
