Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov, who holds the position of Deputy President for Information Policy of the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, in his article says that there are no vessels in Russia capable of providing effective support by an army fire on land or during the landing of a naval landing.
According to information available to Mr. Sivkov, the largest caliber of naval artillery is 130 mm, these guns are installed on the destroyer of Project 956. The mass of the shot is 30 kg, the range of the projectile is 30 km. Such a weapon, at best, can suppress two company-based strongholds at a distance equal to the depth of the tactical antiamphibious defense.
In his opinion, this stems from the proportionality of the damage area of one projectile of 130 mm caliber and the area occupied by one reference point. In addition, we must not forget that such a projectile is not able to suppress heavily protected objects, such as tanks.
The expert considers it inexpedient to use cruise missiles and strike aircraft to destroy such targets.
Somewhat earlier, K. Sivkov claimed that the Perimeter automated fire control system was not able to guarantee a retaliatory strike against American positions.
