US Army Tests Newest Version Of Abrams Tanks

The US Army continues to test the latest version of the main battle tank at Yuma. According to the US Army, this is the main battle tank of M1A2 Systems Engineering (SEP) version 3 (v3), and now it is tested for durability, driving more than 200 miles of road routes at the US Army Yuma Proving Ground.

The latest version of the Abrams SEPv3 tank changed its appearance so much that the tankers who served at its earliest incarnation did not recognize it. Testing YPG touched almost all aspects of this "behemoth", the results of which showed that this modification is good in all directions.

“We proved it through testing over the past two and a half years, and we proved that this is the best version of this platform,” said Greg Duda, leader of the YPG tests.

The list of improvements to SEPv3 is huge. Improved electronic fire control system, engine and transmission have been updated to improve performance and more.

“As technology advances, tanks also need to move forward,” said Martin Velasquez, test specialist. "SEPv3 has much more built-in diagnostic systems than previous versions."

The newest Abrams are more armored than previous versions, which requires improvements in the power system and suspension to prevent a decrease in power and speed.
