Spain will invest almost 1 billion euros in the modernization of its fighter

The Spanish government will allocate from the state treasury about 906 million euros for the modernization of its Typhoon fighters. This money is allocated in the framework of the ambitious state program of renewing the Armed Forces.

Spanish fighter "Eurofighter Typhoon" generation 4+ will be upgraded to more than 900 million euros. In addition to upgrading the aircraft, there are several items in the upgrade program. In particular, the construction of five class F-110 frigates and the creation of 348 armored vehicles with an 8 × 8 wheel formula.

As the official Madrid notes, the Spanish “Typhoons” should in no way be inferior to their counterparts in Great Britain, Italy and Germany, where the modernization has already taken place.

According to the Internet portal Infodefensa, a new Kaptor-E radar with an active phased antenna array and French air-to-air missiles will be installed on the fighter. This will allow the use of long-range missiles "Meteor" and cruise missiles "Storm Shadow." In total, 73 Typhoon fighters will be improved. According to the strategic plans of the Spanish Armed Forces, these fighters will remain the backbone of the Air Force combat fleet until 2045.
