Since the founding of this kind of troops, the form of the Airborne Forces did not differ in any way from the clothes of the Red Army air forces or special-purpose air battalions. The set of clothes soldier intelligence USSR included:
- Leather or blue-gray canvas helmet.
- Moleskino overalls (could be both leather and gray-blue canvas).
- The collar of the jumpsuit was equipped with blue buttonholes, where insignia were sewn.
Already in the forties, the military uniform for aerial reconnaissance was changed to visa jackets with trousers. Pants had huge patch pockets. Winter clothes by paratroopers of the USSR were insulated with sheepskin uniforms: a brown or dark blue fur collar, which was fastened with a zipper.
Airborne form in the USSR
Military clothing of the airborne forces was divided into 4 groups:
- summer uniform for everyday use for sergeants, soldiers;
- summer casual clothes of sergeants, cadets of airborne troops, soldiers;
- summer casual wear of cadets, where buttonholes and epaulets indicated the type of troops;
- winter clothes for sergeants, cadets, military builders, where the buttonholes, epaulets and a badge on the sleeve - by the nature of the troops.
In addition, the military uniform in the USSR had to take into account the climatic features of the area where the troops were located. For example, in the Finnish War, the soldier’s winter clothing was supplemented:
- hats with earflaps,
- padded jackets
- cotton pants
- white camouflage coats and hoods.
The rest of military clothing in the USSR, for example, for rifle divisions, looked like simple budenovka and boots. Even to the canvas helmets, the paratroopers had big glasses for pilots. Such an attribute was issued due to the fact that they often had to descend with a parachute. If you take a good look at the photo or movie materials of those times, you can see that even formal clothes could consist of helmets and goggles, and parachute overalls.
The military uniform of an officer of the USSR had a cap with a strap on the chin for parachuting, simple Red Army pilots hid behind the bosom. Special shoes for jumping was not intended, so the boots were often falling off their feet when the parachute opened. The officer's shoes also suggested the existence of fur boots.
The usual form of the Airborne Forces in Russia differed from other troops only with blue buttonholes, the officers around them had a golden edging. Kant on the buttonholes of political workers, sergeants or privates was black, it was considered a kind of office option. The officers were also distinguished by blue piping on the collar and upper edge of the cuffs, side stitched seams on the breeches. Blue-edged caps with red stars or dark blue caps with red stars from enamel - all this was characteristic of the airborne personnel.
With the existence of the Soviet Union, the Airborne Forces of Ukraine did not differ in their military form from the Russian troops; there was only one single pattern on the territory of the entire USSR. After the collapse of the state, Ukraine had to "redraw" not only the meaning of the kind of troops themselves, but also the form of intelligence. Until recently, the Airborne Forces of these two countries could be distinguished only by different stripes, which depict the coats of arms of different countries. Ukraine in its form depicts a trident on a yellow-blue background.
Outdated Airborne Troops
The winter uniform of the Airborne Forces officer was previously equipped with a dark blue double-breasted overcoat, then the color was changed to the usual gray, with earflaps. The field clothes of the troops did not differ from other units at the time of the war, so in the winter for all there were white camouflage overalls, and in the summer the colors changed to camouflage.
Special paratroopers uniform was issued immediately before disembarking, later the uniform was replaced with normal, one might say office, and special forces clothing was withdrawn. As soon as shoulder straps were introduced, the Airborne Troops began to walk with air marks of distinction. For privates and sergeants, blue shoulder straps with black edging were introduced, and the strips were of brick-red color. The parade uniform has always been distinguished by blue edging, caps - blue band. The same form was typical for the Airborne Forces of Ukraine at the time of being in the USSR and military operations on one side.
New form of airborne in Russia
And now we will travel in 2014 together with the Minister of Defense of Russia Sergey Shoigu. Not so long ago, he stayed with a legendary motorized rifle brigade, known since the Chechen war. In 2014, the soldiers of this unit were transferred to Ugra, and the new form acquired a new modern look, so now the military in such uniforms are not afraid of any frosts. New clothes have been tested extremely low temperatures, penetrating and cold wind.
Sergei Shoigu paid a visit in order to present awards, the action took place in an open area, and the military needed to go on a march just before the highest leadership of Russia. At first, the form was delivered as an experimental one, but at the end of 2014 it was approved in 9 variants.
The form in the new version of 2014 can be combined in different ways:
- for cool weather it will be enough to wear a jacket with lining,
- for wind conditions under the jacket is recommended to wear a jacket,
- In rainy weather, the Airborne Forces Special Forces can wear a wearable fleece shirt with a waterproof overalls.
During the active training phase or the march of the Airborne Troops, they walk in their usual uniform. In theoretical studies, the fighters wear a lighter form of clothing, office.
The form of the Airborne Forces of Russia in 2014 underwent a number of changes: the ears on the earflap became longer, easily overlapped at the back and fastened with velcro, this is quite important and comfortable for the chin. On the cap there is an upper flap that can, if necessary, turn into a sun shade. Outerwear has also undergone many changes, for example, a jacket can be disassembled into several elements. She became a kind of constructor that can be transformed from a regular windbreaker to a warm pea jacket.
The entire 2014 field uniform consists of 16 items that fit easily into a backpack. Depending on the time of year, the backpack can be light or heavy. In the new field shoes, felt boots were replaced with warm boots with inserts. Also added winter paratrooper vest, not constraining movements. To the whole set they added both a warm shirt-front and a comfortable balaclava. Intelligence coveralls are made of waterproof material.
Demobel and ceremonial uniform
The form in which the paratrooper goes to the demob and there is a front door. It is quite different from the usual field and in general from the rest of the clothes of other troops. Intelligence of the Airborne Forces, which has already completed emergency service, can be seen from afar, this form can really be proud of. She is considered the most beautiful and fashionable among the rest of military uniforms.
Intelligence on a demob looks like this: a brave handsome man in a vest with blue stripes and a blue beret, a tunic with blue stripes, with a multitude of all possible decorations.
On May 9, to the day of victory, this year, the fighters and officers of the Airborne Forces were presented in a new field outfit, their worthy appearance was once again emphasized how the leadership cares about the health and comfort of its soldiers. The preparation of this future exploration should take place in a wide variety of climatic conditions, so clothing should always meet these basic requirements.
