In the foreseeable future, the M17 pistol, created on the basis of the SIG Sauer P320, as well as its shortened version of the M18, will go into service with the American army as the main “shortbore”.
The acceptance tests of the M18 model have recently completed. And if, according to the test conditions, 12 delays in shooting were allowed when 5,000 rounds were fired, then the M18 trio shot 12,000 rounds without a single delay. In addition, the pistols successfully passed the test for interchangeability of parts, shooting accuracy and a number of other quality parameters.
The new pistol will be delivered to the troops in caliber 9 × 19 Parabellum, while the manufacturer indicates that the weapon is modular and can be easily converted for firing .357SIG and .40 S & W cartridges. Later, the Air Force, the Navy and the US Marine Corps joined the M17 and M18 procurement.
