The updated Tu-22M3M bomber made its first flight. He climbed to a height of 1500 meters. The flight lasted 37 minutes. This time was enough to test all the new equipment that was installed on the plane. All planned tests were successful, as reported in the press service of "Tupolev."
What exactly has been improved
According to the developers, the main improvements touched electronic devices that are installed on board the bomber. The missile carrier received a new navigation system, EW equipment, sighting system. In total, about 80% of on-board electronic devices were updated, and this made it possible to simplify the preparation of the vehicle for departure, as well as its control in flight and ground service.
Recently it became known that a new Kh-32 rocket will go into service with the Tu-22M3M. Its maximum speed is 5000 km / h, which is equal to 4 M. The flight distance is 1 000 km.
The Tu-22M3M is the main long-range bomber of the Russian Air Force. This plane can reach speeds of up to 2300 k / h, one refueling is enough for 5500 km. On board this aircraft carries three air-to-surface missiles or 25 tons of different types of aerial bombs.
