This is the eighteenth Virginia-class submarine designed to hunt enemy submersibles and strike with cruise missiles.
The eighteenth in a row Virginia class submarine was recently launched. The submarine was named in honor of the Indian tribe Delaware SSN 791 that was destroyed by the progressive American settlers. This is the last submarine in the Block III series.
The submarine was laid in 2013. Its displacement is 7800 tons.
In the submarines of this class introduced a new software package that contains advanced algorithms for tracking and, if necessary, reducing the electromagnetic radiation produced by the boat.
According to experts, Delaware is the embodiment of the latest achievements in the field of electronics and mechanical engineering. The submarine is able to hunt enemy submarines at low and great depths; it can strike the coast with Tomahawk cruise missiles.
In addition, the submarine is prepared for conducting asymmetrical combat operations: it can deliver combat swimmers to the site of sabotage, install minefields and conduct other combat operations.
