While the international community expresses its attitude to the incident in the Black Sea related to the provocative actions of the ships of the naval forces of Ukraine, the sailors of the border troops of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation took the violating ships to the Crimean port of Kerch.
The military ships Berdyansk and Nikopol belonging to small armored artillery boats of the project 58155 (lead ship Gyurza-M) have a displacement of about 150 tons. The crew includes 5 people. As the power plant used two upgraded to the marine version of the engine from the Kharkov T-80UD tanks with a capacity of 1000 hp. The developed maximum speed does not exceed 28 knots. The sailing range is about 700 km.
Boats are mainly bulletproof armor protection, reinforced on tower installations with 30-mm cannons. The on-board armament also includes a 30-mm automatic grenade launcher and 7.62-mm machine guns. Of particular note is the guided missile system Barrier. After all, this system provides laser guidance to a target at a distance of up to 5,000 meters and is capable of penetrating up to 800 mm of armor. To solve the problems of air defense there is a portable anti-aircraft missile system "Igla".
Small armored artillery boats of project 58155 are designed for operations in coastal waters, which is provided with sufficiently strong artillery weapons and the presence of armor protection. However, in a serious naval battle, there are practically no chances to hold out against combat power, for example, the ships of the Russian Navy.
In addition to the boats that invaded the territorial waters of Russia, the Ukrainian Navy also has their classmates Vyshgorod, Kremenchug, Lubny and Akkerman.
Many military experts condescendingly refer these boats to the so-called "mosquito fleet" and note that these small ships are almost the best that the Ukrainian shipbuilding industry can produce in the current conditions of economic disruption in the former Soviet republic.
