Last week, an event took place in Washington, which was practically not covered in our media. We are talking about the negotiations of the head of the Pentagon and the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Poland, at which the question of creating a large American military base on Polish territory was discussed.
Rotational deployment of troops in the units for a period of one year is assumed. Together with the military, it is planned to send members of their families to the border with Russia. The principle of finding the American contingent outside the United States is not new. Similarly, military units of the United States armed forces are stationed on the Korean Peninsula.
US independent military experts believe that the deployment of the American contingent in Poland will be a powerful factor in deterring potential Russian aggression. In their opinion, a permanent presence will be a clear signal to Moscow of the US readiness to resolutely defend its European allies and fulfill the US commitments to ensure security in the region.
In the event that a permanent US military base appears on the territory of Poland, this will provide a way to a new level in terms of studying the region and the interoperability of the American and Polish forces.
At the meeting of defense ministers, it was discussed, in particular, which functional units should be located in Poland. It is possible that tank formations, support units, medium and short-range air defense forces, artillery, military intelligence, rear and engineering support units, as well as army aviation will be transferred there. Such a set of forces corresponds to the organizational structure of the American division.
The constant presence of American troops in Poland could lead to further tensions in relations between the Russian Federation and Western countries. As a possible answer to Russia, the deployment of reinforced battalion tactical groups in Belarus could become.
