Pedicabs are a typical form of urban transport for many poor countries in Central and Southeast Asia, from the Philippines to Pakistan. Engineers of the Swedish company Bzzt were able to creatively rework this idea and created a miniature electric vehicle. Now, a three-wheeled eletrota Zbee carries around the residents and guests of Stockholm, delighting them with an amusing appearance and affordable fare.
However, Bzzt is not going to be limited only to his native Sweden - the company plans to arrange a real expansion into other countries of the European Union. Moreover, its leaders believe that, under certain conditions, travel to Zbee can be made completely free.
Free rickshaws for the Old World
Jürgen Jansson, one of the founders of the company, said that soon their three-wheeled taxi might appear in Berlin and Barcelona. These cities are chosen because of the large number of tourists who usually make a large number of small movements in the city center. "Electric rickshaw" is suitable for this as well as possible. In Stockholm, one kilometer of travel to Zbee cost about $ 3.5.
In Sweden, another method of generating income from cars has already been tested: passengers were simply shown advertisements during the trip. Company executives assure that in the long run the fare can be waived. They hint at other sources of income, however, do not specify which ones.
Currently in Stockholm, about fifty three-wheeled cars are already working, next year they plan to double their number. Now the company is working to improve the quality of services provided: reducing the waiting time for orders, optimizing customer service.
