On July 5, 2018, the Progress M-28M Russian space truck successfully docked with the ISS and delivered more than 2 tons of necessary cargo to the station. Recall that the previous two attempts to launch Progress M-27M and Dragon were unsuccessful. As part of the cargo delivered to the ISS, there were stocks of food - 430 kg, water - 420 kg, oxygen - 22 kg and fuel - 880 kg.
The docking operation of the Progress M-28M with the Pier section was completed fully automatically. It is noteworthy that the launch of a space truck using the carrier Soyuz-U, which was first launched in 1973, was carried out. In order to achieve success in the third attempt to deliver cargo to the ISS, the movement pattern to the station was changed. Instead of a scheme that allows docking in 6-8 hours, another one was chosen - in which the goal was achieved in 2 days.
