Russia will create its own analog "Javelina"

In Russia, the development of a unique anti-tank missile system, which implements the principle of “shot-and-forget”, will begin. This will be the equivalent of the American "Javelina".

As reported in the compilation "Rocket-technical and artillery-technical support of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - 2018", in the foreseeable future it is planned to work on the creation of uniform portable and multipurpose self-propelled anti-tank systems, which allow launching of a rocket from small unprepared premises and fire fortification structures. will allow effective use of the complex in urban environments.

The closest “relative” of the complex being developed is the domestic Kornet ATGM. There the rocket is aimed at the target with a laser beam. In recent versions, the principle of “shot-and-forget” is partially implemented due to automatic capture and tracking of the target, but it must remain in the field of view of the launching device until the rocket hits.

With regard to the characteristics of the new complex, they are identical to the American ATGM FGM-148 Javelin. The “soft start” technology — the missile's main engine is activated at a safe distance for the operator — allows the use of anti-tank systems from closed rooms. The principle of "shot-forget" is provided by correlation analysis using a constantly updated target pattern. Before launching the rocket, the command device makes a reference image of the target in the optical and IR ranges. The image is transmitted to the rocket homing head, which constantly searches for objects on the ground that match the pattern. And here the principle of "shot-forgotten" is used to the full.
