Ukraine wants to close the sky for the Russian "Ruslan"

Ukrainian law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings against the leaders of the Russian company Volga-Dnepr. They are accused of illegally extending airworthiness certificates for the An-124 “Ruslan” aircraft, which are on the balance sheet of this air carrier. About it reports the edition "Ukrainian Truth".

What is wrong with Russian Ruslans?

The Ukrainian side has previously stated that it is possible to maintain and extend the airworthiness of the An-124 aircraft only at the enterprises belonging to the Antonov State Enterprise. And that no one else in the world has the proper experience to carry out such work.

Moreover, in May 2018, the Antonov State Enterprise filed a complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organization, in which it was reported that the continued operation of this aircraft without the participation of the Ukrainian side poses a threat to the infrastructure and people's lives. Back in 2015, Ukraine withdrew from the joint venture, which became a serious problem for Volga-Dnepr.

Ukrainian police opened a criminal case against Rosaviation and the company Volga-Dnepr, and the German company AMTES was also "under the hand". The case was initiated under the Article 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of official position).

Cargo airline Volga-Dnepr is one of the largest operators of An-124 aircraft. Currently, there are 16 machines of this type on its balance sheet. Appealing the state-owned enterprise Antonov to international bodies about the illegality of their operation may well put an end to the use of Ruslans outside of Russian territory.
