In France, modernized air-to-air missiles with increased range have been tested. This is a modernized guided missiles "Meteor", designed for French fighters.
"Meteors" fired from Rafale fighters. Fighting cruise vehicles made a couple of air-to-air missile launches. The first was carried out in the daytime, the second - at night.
In the process of testing, the parameters of the air-launched rocket after launch were monitored: its engine performance, speed characteristics, air resistance parameters and much more. All of these measurements provided special devices for air tests of missiles.
Tests were held on February 13.
Note that the upgraded Meteor rocket is equipped with a direct-flow jet engine and is capable of intercepting air targets at a "long distance." About what exactly this distance is not officially reported. At the same time, it was stated that the modernization allowed “to add several tens of kilometers to the range”. It should be noted that the range of the previous version of the "Meteor" is up to 110 km.
Missile mass - 190 kg, length - 3.7 m, diameter - 178 mm, speed - 4.1 M.
