According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, several telephone conversations recently took place between the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the US State Department. The topics for discussion were various aspects of the Belarusian-American relations. However, the Foreign Ministry does not specify the essence of the conversations.
Earlier, the Belarusian authorities lifted the limit on the number of American diplomats in the country. According to experts, this is the result of one of these telephone conversations.
It is noteworthy that the other day the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said that Russia could lose its only ally in the western direction in the person of Belarus, if the parties could not reach an agreement on compensation in connection with the oil tax maneuver.
The Belarusian leader also instructed the government to work out the issue of alternative options for the supply of oil to the republic. According to him, after completing the modernization of two oil refineries in the country, Belarus will be able to buy oil for further processing not only from Russia.
