After a number of high-profile contracts concluded by the Russian Federation with foreign partners for the supply of Triumph S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, the media and military experts continue to discuss the possibility of Russia becoming a leader in the global arms market for quite some time.
Another material on the export of modern long-range air defense systems was published by the authoritative German edition Die Welt.
Journalists presented generalized data confirming the success of Russian defense enterprises, achieved since the beginning of this year. The publication notes that in early January, the People’s Republic of China became the first acquirer, then a contract was signed with the Republic of Turkey, and in October a contract worth over $ 5 billion to supply Triumph S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems was concluded with India.
According to Western military experts, the tactical and technical characteristics of the S-400 surpass those of the American systems. Thus, the Russian complex is capable of striking aerodynamic and ballistic targets at altitudes of up to 30 kilometers within a radius of 400 kilometers from the location of the firing means of the complex. The firing range of the American Patriot system is limited to 100 kilometers.
At the same time, the authors of the article claim that technical characteristics in the current military-political situation in the world are of secondary importance. For the buyer countries from the Russian Federation as a supplier of modern weapons, the transactions concluded are mostly political overtones. For many states, sold S-400s are a trump card for dialogue with the United States, demonstrating their growing willingness to get out of the political influence of Washington.
