According to her, of particular concern is the "abnormal" behavior of one of the Russian spy satellites and work in the development of laser complexes. At the same time, Washington plans in the coming years to create a new type of armed forces - Space Forces - designed to protect the American satellite constellation from the Chinese and Russian threats. This was reported to journalists by the head of the Pentagon, James Mattis.
What is again dissatisfied with the United States?
It's no secret that Americans really dislike the activity in the field of military technologies related to space, which China and Russia have been demonstrating in recent years. For the effectiveness of the US land, air, and naval forces depends largely on a powerful satellite constellation providing communications, targeting, and reconnaissance. In addition, the missile defense system is tied to space, the creation of which the Americans are engaged in in recent years.
On March 1 of this year, during his speech, President Putin, among other things, announced the creation of a new Peresvet laser complex, which, according to experts, will be used to perform missile defense tasks. There is practically no open information about these weapons, but probably the Russian laser is quite effective if it is remembered even in the State Department. And the satellite mentioned in the speech of the American representative is most likely intended for monitoring other spy satellites. Pobled said that Russia's behavior "is yet another proof that Moscow’s words are at odds with her actions."
Alexander Deineko, Russia's deputy head of the UN, routinely described the statements of the American diplomat as “unfounded, slanderous accusations based on suspicions and assumptions,” adding that no one is stopping Washington from making the necessary amendments to the project on preventing an arms race in space, which the Americans have not used.
Americans create space troops
Meanwhile, blaming Russia for the militarization of space, the United States itself is unleashing an arms race in near-Earth space.
In the spring of this year, Donald Trump announced the need to create Space Forces as a separate type of US Army troops. In June, an official order on this matter was given to the Pentagon. "We have air forces, there will be space, ground and fleet," the American president said during one of his speeches.
A few days ago, US Vice President Mike Pence announced that the Space Forces would be created by 2020, and this is a response to the heightening threats from Russia and China. It can be added that in the US military budget, adopted next year, there are funds to finance this program - the lobbyists of the military-industrial complex, of course, could not miss such an excellent opportunity.
Just yesterday, The Washington Post published statements by Pentagon chief James Mattis, made during his visit to Brazil. He confirmed the US desire to create space forces, which, allegedly, are needed to protect their own satellites. At the same time, however, "Mad Dog" reported that the United States does not plan to place weapons there. As in this case, satellite protection will occur - it is not clear.
Mettis recalled the events of 2007, when China using a rocket destroyed its own satellite in near-earth orbit, which the United States clearly demonstrated its capabilities.
Earlier in the media appeared information about the desire of Americans until 2023 to place in orbit a battery of lasers to destroy the warheads of ballistic missiles.
