US military officials with undisguised tension are considering new Russian systems to combat submarines.
According to experts, the “Package” is a serious combined set of combat means, duplicating and assisting each other in the process of anti-submarine warfare. This set includes many structures. The main thing in it is a hydroacoustic station that provides the search for objects at a great depth. The complex also includes a launcher, in its arsenal are torpedoes that hit both submarines and torpedoes launched from them. Shells "Package" are equipped with heat heads with the effect of homing. Their range is from 800 meters to 10 kilometers.
To date, the Russian "Package" has no analogues in the armed forces of the world. So far there is no such system that would combine the struggle with submarines and torpedoes. Only two remotely similar systems can be noted: the American SSTD and the Indian Mareech can partly compete with the Russian “Package”. However, the one and the other today are “sharpened” for the destruction of torpedoes and are not designed to fight enemy submarines.
To date, "Packages" are installed on 5 of 13 corvettes of the "Stereguschy" type. In the foreseeable future, Russia is considering the possibility of exporting these complexes to friendly countries.
