A pistolless Osa PB-4 pistol is manufactured by New Weapons Technologies as a weapon for the self-defense of ordinary citizens. The engineers had the task to develop an effective type of weapon that would meet all the requirements of the legislation. Especially for this, apart from the weapon itself, special 18x45 cartridges with a diameter of 15.5 millimeters were developed. Since the desire to combine the barrel and ammunition from the developers did not subside, they had to do an electrical ignition of the powder charge. It also limits the use of live ammunition on this barrelless weapon.
The main feature of the cartridges of this weapon were long sleeves and thick walls. The bullet was placed in the shell case and did not stand for its dulce. To protect the bullet from re-inside the sleeve was built cup of aluminum. Functions primed substitute and powder charge were assigned to this glass. To replace the bullet, it was not necessary to make a shot, for this it was enough to destroy the primer. The main feature of the Osa complex is the absence of a barrel, its role is played by the cartridge case.
History of Modernization "Wasps"
A pistolless Osa pistol has suffered four major upgrades in its history, each of which contributed something new and unique to it. The very first version of the weapon did not have an electric ignition system of the powder charge; it was reproduced by means of a magnetic-pulse generator, which is known to many under the name "MIG".
In 2000, the world saw PB-4M, which became a real creation of weapon thought. First of all, this was due to the latest electronic circuit for selecting a cartridge ready for shooting, based on the interaction with the primer. The clever scheme was able to understand when the shot had already been fired, and when there was no charge in the chamber. Thus, the current was only passed when the charge was ready to fire. The scheme instantly worked after pressing the trigger. After the shot, the scheme was scanning the next chamber for the presence of a warhead ready for firing. She herself determined the malfunction of the capsule or the absence of a cartridge and continued to search until she found a charge ready for work. The management of the company really liked this engineering idea, the consumer also appreciated it with a high rating, as a result of which permission was given to install the scheme into the subsequent tools of the Osa complex.
In 2003, the company released an updated version of a tubeless pistol - PB-4-1. This modification received a new laser designator and a redesigned handle. She became more modern and comfortable, the pistol no longer flew from her hands in the process of shooting. In addition, in order to maintain stable operation of the ignition and target designator, the old generator was replaced with a modern lithium battery.
PB-4-1 ML, which was the latest version of the Wasp, entered production in 2005. It is based on minor changes. In its design, engineers returned the magnetic-pulse generator, whose forces were put on the power of ignition of a powder charge. The battery was now responsible for the operation of the laser pointer. Combat characteristics have not been changed.
In addition to these well-known modifications of this barrelless pistol, which were intended exclusively for the civilian population, the company "New Weapons Technologies" has developed options for law enforcement and the army. These include the PB-4B, which was equipped with an anti-knob and mechanical sight, and the PB-4-2, which was charged with more powerful 18.5 x 70 cartridges and had muzzle energy in the region of 100 J.
Pistol Wasp Compact
This rare modification of a barrelless tool was developed on the basis of PB-4-1 ML and differs from it in the following:
- For this weapon, new 15x40 cartridges were developed, which received thin walls, unlike the thick ones for PB-4, made of steel. New cartridges have become shorter and narrower, which has made it possible in general to reduce the thickness of the whole pistol;
- A new two-button fuse has been integrated. For ease of use when it is turned off automatically activated laser designator;
- The designator himself also suffered a change. He received a green color, which allowed him to temporarily blind the enemy when he glowed in his eyes;
- To open the block with cartridges in case of charging or reloading, the lock must be pulled back, which is similar to the actions when working with a self-loading pistol.
For the rest of the characteristics, the Compact does not particularly differ from the progenitor PB-4-1 ML. The block includes four chamber spaces, as the barrel is still used here. To control the battery charge, an indicator appeared here with a charge remaining indicator.
Pistol Osa Aegis
A pistol without a pistol Osa Aegis went into production in 2006. The modification was created on the basis of PB-4-1 ML. Aegis was supposed to be a direct competitor to the famous pistol Guard. The main task of the developers was to optimize the tool. For secretive wearing in all situations, its design had to be made as compact as possible. To this end, the number of chamber-yards was reduced to two, which made the Wasp as flat as possible. The hull was devoid of all protruding and sharp parts. 18x45 ammunition, traumatic and light-sound action, as well as signal flares were used as ammunition.
The recharge system is simplified - now you can change two cartridges at once, as they are a single block. In the complete set with the weapon there are three blocks, one is being charged and two is carried with them as a spare. The trigger mechanism traditionally operates at the expense of a special generator. There is also an electronic system that determines the combat charge. Protection against accidental firing is made in the form of a unique fuse in the front of the weapon and a folding trigger.
How to get permission to wear a pistol wasp?
To obtain permission for the use of a wasp traumatic gun, you need to contact a special government agency responsible for issuing permits for possession and carrying weapons. As a rule, the departments of this state body can be found in any city.
For obtaining permission will need to pay 110 rubles. Payment can be made at the box office of the public service department or through any branch of the nearest bank. To get a license, you must have a protected iron safe in your home.
As soon as the tubeless Wasp is purchased, within two weeks it will be necessary to contact the department of the given service again to register the instrument. Permission for storage and carrying will be issued for 5 years.
