Official Singapore decided to buy several fifth-generation F-35 American fighter jets. Planned to be purchased solely for, to test and decide for yourself - whether Singapore needs it or not. These aircraft must replace those in service with the F-16.
It is reported by Tass, referring to the official statement of the Minister of Defense of the Republic N En Hen.
As it turned out, the F-16 expires in 2030. Therefore, Singapore decided to buy several F-35 “probes”. And after their testing, continue negotiations with US arms dealers.
To date, the armed forces of the Singapore Air Force consist of 60 F-16 flying vehicles. They were purchased in 1998.
By the way, among the F-35 competitors in Singapore are considering several models of the Russian "Su" and the Chinese J-20S.
Recall that the F-35 is a multi-purpose combat aircraft designed using stealth technology and capable of carrying nuclear warheads. The fighter is available in three different versions: for the Air Force, Navy and the US Marine Corps.
At the moment it is in service in the United States, Britain, Australia, Turkey, Italy, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands and Denmark, Israel, Japan and South Korea.
At the moment, the number of test American fighters for the purchase has not been disclosed.
