The development of a hypersonic engine for a space bomber began in Russia

The design will consist of two circuits, which will allow combining rocket and aircraft engines. This feature makes it possible to fly not only in the atmospheric layers, but also in space. Currently in Russia there is not even an analogue of this development. It is assumed that the first tests will begin in 2020. The scheme has already been worked out, so far they have started the development itself.

Another unique project was the newest hypersonic strategic bomber, with great functionality. He will be able to hit targets from outer space. There is information that the plane will be able to take off and land from standard airfields, and in just a few hours it can reach any point on the planet due to its launch into space.

Teacher of one of their branches of the Academy of Strategic Missile Forces, Alexey Solodovnikov, shared information with the Russian RIA Novosti news agency, from which it became clear that the plane had the ability to go into outer space on command, performing various combat tasks. He can also quickly return to the airfield, as well as get to any target. It is assumed that the project will take part experts from the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute. Currently working on determining all the parameters of the newest bomber.

History of space bombers

Such aircraft have long been developed. Back in the 60s, the United States of America began work on a project of the experimental North American X-15 hypersonic aircraft, which was the only one of its kind for decades. The height of its flight exceeded 80 kilometers. Then other programs began, but not all countries achieved even the slightest success. In Russia in the 1970s, the history of the Tu-2000 orbital bomber began, which was never completed. A model was even created, presented to the public at the Masaeroshow-92 exhibition.
