The Chinese shock drone Wing Loong ID made the first flight the other day. Its peculiarity is that it consists entirely of composite materials. The drone is designed by the Chinese military corporation AVIC.
Drones for shock operations and aerial bombardment of enemy objects are created by Chinese designers of the company AVIC. The use of composite materials significantly reduces the visibility of devices in the radio band and increases the rigidity of the structure.
As is known, the use of composite materials in the aviation industry allows us to solve several problems simultaneously. In particular, composites are more durable compared to conventional aviation alloys. In addition, they can significantly reduce the weight of the aircraft, in no way detracting from the characteristics.
The first flight of Wing Loong ID lasted about half an hour. Experts checked the drivability and stability of the drone. All results are considered successful. In the near future, flight tests of the UAV are planned to continue.
In addition to this impact drone, the state corporation AVIC is conducting tests of the shock drone Wing Loong II. In January 2018, during the tests, this device first launched rockets and dropped bombs on ground targets.
